Cratering the Moon ChallengeFinal Designs
Challenge: As junior engineers, the student task is
to design and build a small-scale, Earth-based launching
device that can propel a standard projectile at various angles, creating
a crater in “lunar soil.”
Then, using the launching device, the students will conduct an experiment
to determine the angle of
impact that excavates the greatest amount of subsurface “lunar
soil.” For more information on the challenge, see: http://quest.nasa.gov/challenges/lcross/Cratering_the_Moon_v1.pdf
