Final Design
Narrative Description The students at Antioch Charter Academy Middle School were given the assignment to design a calendar for the new colony on Mars. They were given basic facts of rotation rate, tilt and orbit of Mars vs Earth, then broken up into small groups to design their calendars. The groups were very creative in coming up with names of their months, days and holidays. The general consenses of how the calendar should be set up was: 1 year = 670 sols, 10 months per year, 10 sols in a week, and 24 hours 37 minutes in 1 sol. Here is an example of one of the calendars that was submitted.
