I am a Program Coordinator. I work with astronomers who use the Hubble
Space Telescope in order to help them specify all of the technical details
necessary for performing observations with HST. Once that specification
is complete, I then do the work necceary to prepare those observations
for execution by the the telescope. The best part about my job is working
with the astronomers who use HST and helping them to perform cutting edge
observations.
I became interested in astronomy at a young age. I prepared for my current
position by obtaining a degree in physics. I read just about any book
or magazine and watched just about any television program that had anything
to do with astronomy. Of all these, Carl Sagan's Cosmos program was probably
the most interesting to me.
My father worked on the Pioneer 10 and 11 missions to Jupiter and Saturn
and the Viking missions to Mars. That's probably what got me interested
in the first place.
I enjoy camping, hiking, and backpacking especially in mountain areas.
I'm currently working on a goal of visiting the highest point in every
state. I've been to 23 so far... :)
