The White Sands Complex (WSC) is located near Las Cruces, New Mexico and includes two functionally identical satellite ground terminals. These terminals, Cacique and Danzante, are also known as the White Sands Ground Terminal (WSGT) and the Second TDRSS Ground Terminal (STGT), respectively. These terminals are responsible for communication with the Tracking and Data Relay Satellites (TDRS): transmitting commands to the spacecraft, receiving the user data returned through each TDRS, and keeping track of system status.
