The manner in which the different tracks will be presented over the Internet will vary. In order to help you plan for the technologies that you will need we have provided the following:


A mail list has been established to keep you informed about the progress of the event. To join the list:


Digitized Video Clips:

In order to view the video clips featured in the Keynote presentation Internet Video Client software will be required: Internet Video Client Software.


Track One: Classroom Content

You can experience these presentations with a combination of RealAudio, Web graphics and WebChat. A RealAudio file will be placed online for download and listening. Graphics associated with the presentation will be available from the Website. You will be told during the RealAudio presentation when it is appropriate to advance to the next graphic.

In order to follow the RealAudio presentations a minimum of a 14.4kbps modem connection that offers graphic browser (Netscape) capability is required.

WebChat:

  • Client: No Additional Client Software Needed - Accessed from Web Site

RealAudio:

Track Two: Technical Issues
You can engage in six, one-hour discussions with technical experts from corporations, NASA and successful school sites.

K-12, Internet-Related Videos

This portion of the program will have a series of 7, 10 - 20 minute tapes being repeated throughout the day. The tapes listed will have a run-time of approximately 1.5 hours. The videos will each be shown four times throughout the day.

  • Users with a Unix machine and a T1 connection will be able to view the video at near TV signal-quality using MBONE.
  • Users with high-speed dial-up connections will be able to view and listen to the videos via CU-SeeMe.
    • Connectivity Required: T1 desirable, 14.4Kbps required
    • Tune To: 139.88.27.79 or 128.158.1.154
    • Client: CU-SeeMe software available on most platforms
  • Users with access to a satellite downlink or NASA TV will also be able to view the videos.
    • Connectivity Required: TV Channel
    • Tune to: Spacenet II, transponder 5 (Channel 9) at 69 degrees west longitude. (Frequency 3880.0 MHz, audio 6.8 MHz.)
    • Client: You guessed it, a TV!
