NeurOn Salutes Brain Awareness Week

Classes are invited to "participate" after the fact using the online archives

Featuring: Dr. Eric Chudler, and Kristi Gustafson's classroom

in live collaborative experiments!

Classroom joined us on the Learning Technologies Channel as we engaged in live projects led by Eric Chudler, who brings you Neurosciences for Kids, direct from the classroom of Kristi Gustafson from North City Elementary School. Hosted by NASA Quest's NeurOn (Neurolab Online) You too may join us using the archive of this event.

Things to do before you participate:

• Assemble student materials needed
• Make sure you've downloaded any technologies you need

Schedule of events:

Introduction live from NASA Ames Research Center, Learning Technologies Channel studio.

Greeting and prologue by Dr. Chudler from the University of Washington

Experiment 1: Join Kristi's class as they perform an experiment under the tutelage of Eric regarding memory.

During this time it is anticipated that remote classrooms will be performing the experiments and asking questions using Web chat technology. Eric, Kristi and her kids will be available to answer your questions in real time.

Analysis of results: Classrooms calculated their own students' performance and graphed. Eric posed questions for discussion online/

Experiment 2: Again, join Kristi's class as they engage in short activities demonstrating the blind spot and sound localization led by Eric.

Live interaction: Chat room was used to discuss the events and ask questions.

Each student should have:

• pencil or pen
• paper
• calculator (optional)
• a graph "grid" or print 2 per page to plot words remembered in the first experiment
• blind spot testers
  
  Each tester sheet has 11 testers.
  Print out the number needed and cut out each tester rectangle
