Meet: John Han
Going to the Art Center in Pasadena
What I do at NASA
I do poster designing using PhotoShop, and I teach the other students
how to use programs like Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop. I like this
job more than normal graphics design. Usually, in a graphic design job,
you get an assignment and then go off by yourself and finish it on your
own. This job was fun and interesting because there was more teamwork
involved. Each person pitches in and contributes to make the final product.
How I got this job
First I applied to STELLAR MCP, a multimedia project, which I found
out about through a teacher at my school who was involved with computer
graphic design with me. I went through the application process, and they
said I was hired, but later called back and told me that funds were cut,
but they'd sent my application to NeurOn Express. Next thing I knew I
ended up here. I showed STELLAR management my previous work in graphics.
I had worked before as a graphic designer at a graphics company when I
was a junior in Westmont High School. So I showed STELLAR management that
work with what I did in high school Art class. I'm more interested in
graphic designing. This job was better for my experience because I was
involved with graphic design and space science.
Other things I find interesting
I'm planning to go to the Art Center in Pasadena. I have never taken
any classes in graphic design, I just learned by hands-on experience.
I plan to do all types of arts, like graphic design and painting and sculpture.
There's also computer animation which I might get into. I really like
to teach art, and I think, in the future, I'd like to get into teaching
as well.
