Expedition Three Commander Frank Culbertson, Pilot Vladimir Dezhurov and Flight Engineer Mikhail Tyurin took over operations of the station Aug. 13 following their launch aboard the Shuttle Discovery and their delivery to the orbital outpost. They will return to Earth in December. Participants in Friday's briefing are Expedition Three Increment Manager Melissa Gard and Increment Scientist John Uri. They will discuss recent activities associated with the arrival of a Russian Progress resupply vehicle, expanded scientific work being conducted on board the ISS and the upcoming launch of the Russian Docking Compartment module named "Pirs", the Russian word for pier or port. The briefing, originating from NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston will be carried live on NASA Television and will feature multi-center question-and-answer capability from participating NASA centers. NASA TV is available on GE-2, Transponder 9C at 85 degrees West longitude, vertical polarization, with a frequency of 3880 MHz and audio of 6.8 MHz.
