KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SHUTTLE & PAYLOAD PROCESSING STATUS REPORT Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 (2 p.m.) NOTE: This is an orbiter processing report and does not necessarily reflect the chronological order of upcoming Space Shuttle flights. Visit http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/schedule/schedule.htm on the KSC Home Page for the latest schedule of future Shuttle missions. MISSION: STS-108 - 12th ISS Flight (UF1) - MPLM VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Nov. 29, 2001 at 8:05 p.m. EST TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Dec. 10, 2001 at 3:26 p.m. MISSION DURATION: 11 days CREW: Gorie, Kelly, Godwin, Tani; (ISS up) Onufrienko, Bursch, Walz; (ISS down) Culbertson, Dezhurov, Turin ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: Technicians have completed leak checks on Endeavour's auxiliary power unit (APU) No. 3 and fuel line disconnects on APU No. 2. The orbiter's ammonia servicing is also complete. The Crew Equipment Interface Test concluded last week. Today, workers are installing Endeavour's waste containment system and conducting main engine leak checks. Engine heat shields will be installed later this week. MISSION: STS-109 - HST Servicing Mission 3B VEHICLE: Columbia/OV-102 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Jan. 17, 2002 at 3:52 a.m. EST (under review) TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: Jan. 28, 2002 MISSION DURATION: 11 days CREW: Altman, Carey, Grunsfeld, Currie, Newman, Linnehan, Massimino ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 308 nautical miles/28.5 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: Technicians completed Columbia's auxiliary power unit (APU) inspections last week and replaced an APU quick disconnect. Orbiter Maneuvering System (OMS) pod cross-feed lines were connected over the weekend. Functional testing of the orbiter's flash evaporator system continues. Technicians are also wrapping up close-out work on the recently installed forward reaction control system. An evaluation of Columbia's recently installed OMS pods continues with possible implications on the rest of the Shuttle fleet. Elongated bolt-holes at one of each pod's load bearing attach points are being analyzed in an effort to determine if the condition is unique to Columbia. If analysis, testing or a work-around cannot ensure the integrity of the fleet's OMS pod attach points, precautionary inspections can be conducted. If required, the additional work can be performed in parallel with other planned processing, but could delay the current work schedule. A decision is expected later this week. MISSION: STS-110 - 13th ISS Flight (8A) - ITS S0, MT VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE/TIME: Feb. 28, 2002 (under review) TARGET KSC LANDING DATE/TIME: March 9, 2002 MISSION DURATION: 9 days CREW: Bloomfield, Frick, Ross, Smith, Ochoa, Morin, Walheim ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: Technicians have completed fuel cell testing. Thruster replacement work is under way on Atlantis' orbiter maneuvering system. The monoball wiring harness modification continues. This week, workers will begin routine tests of the orbiter's microwave scanning beam landing system. STRUCTURAL INSPECTION & MODIFICATION PERIOD VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103 Shuttle Processing Note: Orbiter Discovery remains in temporary storage through late October. Discovery is scheduled to begin a thorough structural inspection and modification period. Shuttle managers continue to assess the content, schedule and location of this planned work period. -- end --
