KENNEDY SPACE CENTER SHUTTLE & PAYLOAD PROCESSING STATUS REPORT Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002 (12:30 p.m.) NOTE: This is an orbiter processing report and does not necessarily reflect the chronological order of upcoming Space Shuttle flights. Visit http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/schedule/schedule.htm on the KSC Home Page for the latest schedule of future Shuttle missions. MISSION: STS-109 - HST Servicing Mission 3B VEHICLE: Columbia/OV-102 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE: Feb. 28, 2002 at 6:48 a.m. TARGET KSC LANDING DATE: March 11, 2002 at 3:33 a.m. MISSION DURATION: 11 days CREW: Altman, Carey, Grunsfeld, Currie, Newman, Linnehan, Massimino ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 308 nautical miles/28.5 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: Pre-launch operations for Shuttle Columbia remain on schedule for the planned liftoff at 6:48 a.m. EST on Thursday, Feb. 28. Preparations are underway for the next major milestone, space vehicle ordnance installation, which will continue through Wednesday night. The issue concerning the status of the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) hydraulic pump bolts is still being evaluated. The STS-109 flight crew will arrive at KSC early Monday, Feb. 25, and the final countdown will begin at 10 a.m. Monday. Payload Processing Note: After reviewing test data from another Reaction Wheel Assembly (RWA) at Goddard Space Flight Center, HST managers decided late Friday they would not replace the Reaction Wheel Assembly currently manifested for STS-109. At the launch pad, the complement of HST flight hardware was installed into Columbia's payload bay on Feb. 18. Electrical connections with the orbiter are now being established. An interface verification test to verify those connections is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 21. An end-to-end test is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 22. This test will occur between the flight hardware in Columbia's payload bay at KSC, the Space Telescope Operations Control Center at the Goddard Space Flight Center, and Mission Control in Houston. This will verify the ability of controllers on the ground to monitor the status of the flight hardware in the payload bay while Columbia is on-orbit. Payload closeouts are scheduled to begin next weekend. An inspection of the HST flight hardware by the STS-109 astronauts is planned for Monday, Feb. 25 and will followed afterward by closure of the payload bay doors for flight. MISSION: STS-110 - 13th ISS Flight (8A) - ITS SO TRUSS AND MOBILE TRANSPORTER VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104 TARGET KSC LAUNCH DATE: April 4, 2002 TARGET KSC LANDING DATE: April 15, 2002 MISSION DURATION: 11 days CREW: Bloomfield, Frick, Ross, Smith, Ochoa, Morin, Walheim ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: In the Orbiter Processing Facility (OPF), Shuttle Atlantis is undergoing final preparations for the STS-110 mission to the International Space Station on April 4. Payload closeouts and Orbiter Maneuvering System (OMS) crossfeed leak checks are in progress. MISSION: STS-111 - 14th ISS flight (UF2) - MPLM VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105 TARGET LAUNCH DATE: May 2, 2002 TARGET KSC LANDING DATE: May 13, 2002 CREW: Cockrell, Lockhart, Chang-Diaz, Perrin; (ISS up) Korzun, Whitson, Treschev; (ISS down) Onufrienko, Bursch, Walz ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE and INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees Shuttle Processing Note: Orbiter Endeavour is in the OPF and work in progress includes installing the drag parachute and continuing the Payload Premate test. The Forward Reaction Control System (FRCS) will be installed today and the Shuttle's three main engines tomorrow. ORBITER MAINTENANCE AND MODIFICATION PERIOD VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103 Shuttle Processing Note: Discovery is in the OPF awaiting the start of its Orbiter Major Modification (OMM) period at the Kennedy Space Center that is scheduled to begin late this summer. Preparations for APU lube oil de-servicing are in work. -- end --
