December 4, 2002 Doc Mirelson Headquarters, Washington 202-358-1600 Eileen Hawley Johnson Space Center, Houston 281-483-5111 Report #N02-79 SPACEWALK COVERAGE ON NASA TV -- UPDATED COVERAGE TIME The activities of the new residents aboard the International Space Station and a preview of extravehicular operations will be discussed during a Mission Status Briefing at 1 p.m. CST on Dec. 10 at the Johnson Space Center. Station managers and flight controllers will answer questions during the multi-center briefing. Participants: * Melissa Gard, Expedition Six Increment Manager * Norm Knight, ISS Flight Director * Darryl Schuck, Expedition Six EVA Officer Expedition Six Commander Ken Bowersox, Flight Engineer Nikolai Budarin and NASA Space Station Science Officer Don Pettit arrived on the Station aboard the space Shuttle Endeavour Nov. 25 for their four-month mission. Bowersox and Budarin will conduct a 6 1/2-hour spacewalk on Dec. 12. They will exit out of the Quest Airlock to install the newly delivered Port One (P1) Truss segment and to conduct other work to prepare components for future assembly flights. It will be the first time a Russian cosmonaut wears a U.S. spacesuit out of Quest. The spacewalk will begin at approximately 8 a.m. CST on Dec. 12, and it will be covered on NASA TV with commentary and available downlink television. Coverage begins at 7 a.m. CST. NASA TV is on GE-2, Transponder 9C, vertical polarization at 85 degrees West longitude, 3880 MHz, with audio at 6.8 MHz.
