Meet: Wayne Bryant

Acting Manager for
NASA’s Efficient Aircraft Spacing Project
Langley Research Center

Who I am and what I do:
I am the acting manager for NASA’s Efficient Aircraft Spacing Project that includes development of the Wake Vortex Avoidance System (WakeVAS) and Wake Alleviation research. I also am the co-founder of WakeNet USA (a government/industry network focused on implementing wake vortex solutions) and currently share the WakeNet USA leadership with the FAA Wake Vortex Program manager. Much of my time is spent participating in building international collaboration with European counterparts for implementation of wake vortex systems through the FAA/NASA/EUROCONTROL Air Traffic Management Research and Development Committee.

What helped me prepare for this job
Prior to assuming this current position I held the position of Deputy Director of the Aviation Systems Capacity (ASC) and Aerospace Operations Systems (AOS) Programs at NASA Langley Research Center where I assisted the program's Director in all phases of the technical and programmatic duties for the Agency.

My education and training
I have earned a B.S.E.E. from North Carolina State University, a M.S.E.E. from George Washington University, and completed the Senior Executive Fellow program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

Personal
I am the author (or co-author) of over 25 technical publications in the areas of navigation, guidance, control, and highly reliable computing systems. I am also a member of the Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
