Meet: Gregory Goins
Research Scientist
Kennedy Space Center
Who I am and what I do
Hi my name is Gregory Goins. I am a research scientist for Dynamac and,
I have been working for Kennedy Space Center since 1995. My main responsibilities
are to investigate innovative lighting, nutrient, and water delivery systems
to support crop growth as part of human bioregenerative life support functions
during long-term space missions. I have worked on many space missions
involving plant experiments in space including potatoes, sweet potatoes,
wheat, and Brassica.
How did I get here
I was born and grew up in Greensboro, NC. After graduating from high school
in Guilford County, NC. I attended the University of North Carolina at
Chapel Hill where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Biology. I then attended
North Carolina State University where I received my Master's of Science
and PhD in Crop Science. Following a post-doctoral apprenticeship at the
University of North Carolina, I was hired by the Dynamac Corporation at
Kennedy Space Center.
