Dr. Gary K. Clambey, an ecologist in the Department of Biological Sciences, began his university career at North Dakota State University after serving as a preventive medicine specialist in the U.S. Army Medical Department and then earning his doctorate at Iowa State University. His research interests include structure and function of Midwestern ecosystems (grasslands, wetlands, forests), human ecology, and natural resource management. Teaching experiences extend from introductory biology courses through upper-level undergraduate courses in ecology and graduate-level courses in ecosystem ecology, evolutionary ecology, and natural history of the Dakota-Minnesota region. Among the recognition of those teaching, advising, and service efforts have been the following: Robert Odney Award for Excellence in Teaching; Blue Key Distinguished Educator Award; Mortar Board Outstanding Academic Advisor for the College of Science and Mathematics; College of Science and Mathematics Excellence in Teaching Award; Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. He has served as President of the North Dakota Academy of Sciences and twice as President of the NDSU Chapter of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society. |
