Idaho
2011 |
I currently teach Earth Science and Astronomy at Mountain View High School in Meridian, Idaho. I love the dynamic and creative nature of teaching. I am always striving to incorporate current research and discoveries into the classroom. My other interests include developing new ways to integrate technology into the curriculum and student misconceptions in science. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and six year old daughter Abby. We enjoy International travel, hiking, bicycling and all things outdoors. In addition, I cherish working in my garden (always in progress) and reading what seems to be a never ending stack of books! I graduated from University of Oregon with a BS in Geography and a minor in Environmental Science. Following graduation I moved to Idaho after spending many summers in Idaho’s Frank Church Wilderness working for the US Forest Service. Eventually, I moved to Boise to attend Boise State University where I graduated with a MS in Earth Science. While at BSU I helped to develop online science classes and taught introductory geology. I am currently pondering my next educational adventure. I am so excited to have the opportunity to participate
in the Spaceward Bound program this summer. I hope to deepen my
knowledge about the geology and biology of Idaho. In addition,
I am excited to learn about how Idaho geologic sites relate to
the study of Astrobiology. I can’t wait to transfer my experiences
into the classroom next school year. |
