Daniel J. Loewen Personal Information: I was born November 19, 1968 and raised in Reedley, California, a small farming town just south of Fresno. I ran track and played football during high school and worked in farming during the summers. Coming from an immigrant background, I learned the value of hard work and a love for my country. I met and married my wife, Lisa, in Fresno, California where we now reside. I am also the proud father of two young boys Jacob, 7 and David, 4. Education and Experience: I attended Fresno Pacific University in Fresno, California where I ran track and had an amazing opportunity to sing in the college choir and travel in Europe. I studied sports medicine and graduated with a degree in Athletic Training. After graduation, I had the privilege of working as an assistant coach for the Fresno Pacific University volleyball program. During this time, I studied biomechanics and earned a Masters degree from California State University, Fresno in Kinesiology. I have a multiple subject clear credential, and for the past 8 years have been teaching math and biology for the Fresno County Office of Education Court Schools. Along with my teaching duties I have the unique opportunity of working along side my colleagues as a cognitive math coach, curriculum writer, and professional development leader in the areas of math and biology. I have had the honor of working with a remarkable group of educators as a member of the Network of Educator Astronaut Teachers since 2004. I am also a private pilot and a PADI certified advanced enriched air diver. I am currently continuing my professional growth in math and biology and am looking forward to new opportunities and adventures
