Roberto Martinez
Born in Aguirre Salinas Puerto Rico on May 2nd of 1966. Educational Background includes a B.A. with a concentration in Economics (University of Puerto Rico); graduate courses in Business Administration with a concentration in Management (Inter American University of Puerto Rico); Master in the Art of Teaching (Columbia College of Chicago); Master in School Leadership (Northeastern Illinois University). Non-teaching experiences include: Business administrator (Young Body Health and Fitness Center, Puerto Rico), Radio Operator for the State Civic Defense of Puerto Rico and Executive Director for the Fullerton Avenue Merchants Association (Chicago). I have worked as an educator for the last 12 years, most of them as a bilingual teacher (kindergarten, second, third, fourth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade). I am a holder of a valid teaching and administrative certificates in the state of Illinois. I am also an active member of the Illinois Principal Association and the National Principal Association. My extracurricular activities include running (I have completed a good number of races, including four marathons in Chicago), reading; one of my particular interests is oriental rugs and Spanish wines. Special awards include two commendations from the Governor Office of the Government of Puerto Rico for services given (for the State Civic Defense) during major flooding in 1991 and 1992. I consider myself as a Chicagoan by adoption; I live in Albany Park, Chicago.
