I currently am an undergraduate working on my B.S. in Biochemistry and minor in General Biology. I transferred to San Francisco State from Diablo Valley College, a community college in Pleasant Hill, Ca. I have not yet decided what career to pursue following graduation in Spring 2009, but am interested in teaching, research, medicine, and pharmacy. My interest in research was peaked as an undergraduate at San Francisco State. It was here that I worked for a few years as a research assistant to Dr. Jane DeWitt studying the effects of heavy metal accumulation in plants, specifically Arabidopsis thaliana and Brassica juncea. Working in the lab I’ve been exposed to techniques such as RT-PCR, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, and size exclusion chromatography. Currently, I am away from research and am focusing on my classes while working part-time as a grader. During school I keep busy volunteering at Seton Medical Center in Daly City and staying involved in campus organizations. In my spare time I enjoy running, cycling, resistance training, and outdoor activities. I also enjoy visiting my family in the Bay area, relaxing with friends, and spending time with my girlfriend. |
