I am a rising junior at the University of North Carolina (go Tar Heels!), where I'm studying biology and poetry.  I've done time in laboratories at UNC, Cornell, William & Mary, and the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, but give me the choice and I would absolutely rather be studying the natural world out in nature.  

In 2007, a love for adventure and a growing interest in astrobiology led me to work for sustainable development in a remote African village, to the Serengeti Plains, to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, and to the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah. This year I'm headed to Pavilion Lake, then to the Arctic and Antarctic, and a few places in between.
