Beth Schmid Headquarters, Washington, DC October 22, 1998 (Phone: 202/358-1760) RELEASE: 98-194 STUDENTS WILL TALK TO JOHN GLENN ABOARD DISCOVERY Students at two museums and a high school will have the opportunity to ask questions of STS-95 mission commander Curtis L. Brown Jr. and payload specialist John H. Glenn Jr. aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. The audio-only education event is tentatively scheduled to begin at 12:25 PM EST on Saturday, Oct. 31, and last for 30 minutes. Groups of students will be located at the John H. Glenn High School in New Concord, OH; the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) in Columbus, OH; and the Newseum in Arlington, VA. Students at COSI will be at the middle and high school level, while students at the Newseum and John H. Glenn High School will be at the high school level. The 30-minute event will be divided equally among the three sites. For those interested in listening to the audio-only exchange, NASA Television will broadcast it on GE-2, transponder 9C, C-Band, located at 85 degrees West longitude. The frequency is 3880.0 Mhz. Polarization is vertical and audio is monaural at 6.8 MHz. NASA TV will show still pictures of the crew, the students, and the three participating facilities during the student-crewmember exchange.
