Profiles of Featured Women

Michelle Amos Electronics Engineer / Kennedy Space Center - Michelle is a Hardware Design Engineer for NITEX-34. NITEX stands for NASA IVHM Technology Experiment for X-vehicles. The NITEX-34 experiment is designed to demonstate an advanced health monitoring system for the X-34 Vehicle. The system will detect both functional failures that can impact the current mission as well as future missions. The experiment extracts sensor and command data from the Real-time Flight Unit on the X-34 during flight and from the Real-time Ground Unit when the X-34 is not operational. My current assignment is to design and document the Ground Station Unit where the Real-time Ground Unit will be located.

Berta Alfonso Design Engineer / Kennedy Space Center - Berta is a Design Engineer.
(featured in Webchat and video profile)
Patty Currier Payload Scientist / Kennedy Space Center - I work with scientists from colleges and universities around the world to help them fly biology experiments aboard the space shuttle. I help them analyze what they want to do and figure out ways to do it. If I am lucky, the scientist already has some idea, but most of the time, we are starting from ground zero. I like that too--I love puzzles.

Miroslava Guisbert Technical Management / Kennedy Space Center - Miro works on the management of the facilities that the Expendable Launch Vehicles Program uses. This means that I get the yearly inputs from the engineers on what needs to be done to keep the buildings and all their utilities in good working condition.

Lynn Harper Astrobiologist / NASA Ames Research Center - Lynn is the Lead of the Astrobiology Advanced Missions and Technologies. Her particular work has been the special assignment to promote the development of the science, technology, mission, education and outreach elements of the Astrobiology program

Sandra Olson Aerospace Engineer / NASA Glenn Research Center - Sandra works in the Microgravity Combustion Science Branch. While Aerospace Engineer is my official title in NASA-ese, I use Microgravity Combustion Scientist, since that is what I actually do. Yes, they actually pay me to burn things in space!
